Sivan Design has signed a World Bank-funded contract with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for the Zanzibar Spatial Data Infrastructure (ZanSDI) project. Implemented by Sivan Design, ZanSDI is establishing a modern national geospatial platform to improve spatial data management, sharing, and access across government institutions in Zanzibar. Built on open-source technologies and supported by capacity building and institutional strengthening, the project is designed to enhance data-driven decision-making, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and advance Zanzibar’s long-term geospatial capabilities.
As of April 2026, the project had reached its final phase of implementation and testing, including system validation, user acceptance activities, and preparations for operational launch. The platform is expected to go live in June 2026, representing a major milestone in the development of Zanzibar’s national spatial data infrastructure and its long-term geospatial governance.
